Default Thoughts on finishing this toddler quilt please?

The result of my labors this weekend is a quilt intended for 3yr old boy - he most likely won't get it until the end of the year as I also plan to make something for his two sisters. My question to y'all - how would you finish this one because none of the ideas I've had so far are screaming 'pick me, pick me'?

Here's what the top currently looks like, sized about 41" square. Yes, I do like bright for kids. After all, I'm not the one that has to calm them down and get them to sleep at night.... My first idea was just to use some scrappy binding and it's done.

Another option would be to frame with a darker border. I have some purple that I thought about, but looking at the picture wonder if it all seems too halloweeny? Brown might be a bit calmer... but that color is sadly lacking in my stash so I would have to go fabric shopping - woe is me

And a final (for now) thought I had was to make it more rectangular by adding a thinner border then piano key border at the bottom, and then a final border around all of the quilt. I've got enough leftovers in red, orange and green for the piano key, I just used red and orange for this example.

    Thanks all!

I love this quilt! I do like the piano key border, but I don't think the purple is right in a wide border, but it could be nice as the binding depending what you use to back the quilt. Do you have more of the blue print? I think wide strips of it top and bottom would be cute too.

What about the grass green or royal blue for a border? Seems more boyish than purple.

Yep, purple isn't what you need.

I like the idea of a scrappy orange/red binding or piano key border & then scrappy binding.

I like the piano key border but don't care for the wide purple under it. It is a very cute quilt. I like bright colors.

I wouldn't go with the purple, but the blue or the green call to me. I like the idea of the piano key as well.

Purple has been returned to the stash. I like the idea of picking up the blue to bring it all together - don't know why I didn't think of that, so thanks to Terri, Jean and Dollyquilts for putting me on the right track. And a skinny orange/red binding.

Sigh, now back to laundry and chores.

    Thanks all!

I like the red and orange keyboard with maybe the paler green border or binding
