Great ideas - I think I might try option 2 with the next quilt I'm trying to sketch out, and I like #1 for this one. Need to sketch it out to see if I have enough fabric left or need to go shopping again...

Definitely no to the purple. It doesn't seem to match anything in the quilt top. I think it depends on how large you want the quilt as to how many or how wide you make the borders. It's a cute top.

I'm not a huge fan of square quilts, so I really like the piano key insert at the bottom. I'm sure it will be completely adorable no matter which colors you end up using.

I just asked my boys, they said NO to purple, too girlie
I like my kid quilts to be square....not rectangular
I'm not sure why, other then I'm probably old and like uniformity
