    Default Long arms

    So I went into a local shop and expressed an interest in a long arm which they sell and got no response to try or sample. I've only been back in the states 6 months and realized customer service is at its worst here. So what do you do?
    I'm welcomed in Dillard but not as a buyer for a long arm? I didn't think quilters were this snobby.

    that's really terrible! If you buy one somewhere else, make sure to go back and pull a pretty woman on them! sheesh!

    We've had quite a few posts about snobby quilt shops ( of course, MSQC is NOT one of them!). I don't understand how if the clerks in Dollar General can greet every customer with a hello why it is so hard for a quilt shop to do the same. You come in, obviously have money to spend, they have a product you want, why can't they put out the effort to help you spend your money? Seems like a basic business practice to treat customers well.

    A long arm is an expensive purchase, I would think they would be all over you! Here in the Midwest I haven't been to a snobby quilt shop yet. I've had some that talk your arm off and you can't get out of, but never any that have ignored me!

    Unfortunately, snobbery and poor PR does exist in the quilting world, and amazingly much more so in storefronts!!! Do not be dismayed, nor dissuaded, the negative always overshadows the positive. I would make it a point to speak to the Owner (am assuming this shop is a Dealer?) and air your dissatisfaction and distaste for such lackadaisical and poor treatment. If you are met with the same unprofessional attitude, let it be known they are not the only place to shop! If you can only purchase the equipment through this shop, by all means contact the Manufacturer and COMPLAIN......the squeaky wheel gets greased first! After all, the Manufacturer wants a shop that not only represents them professionally, but exudes great Customer Service as well when it comes to their product. Very sorry this happened to you, but in this day and age, it is expected! Such a shame, but as a consumer, , make that wheel squeak real loud! And it almost sounds as if they are looking at you as possibly being a competitor for LA services, which is hooey!

    Maybe start the conversation with, "I came in to try a long arm and if I like it I'll buy one." Or, "I'm trying to decide if I want to buy an HQ or (fill in the blank)."

    I am so sorry that you don't live closer to me. My Innova dealer is awesome and amazing and I wish you could see that first hand!

    That's funny. You can't pull that off here because everyone is in tee's, shorts and flip flops. The clerks are dressed the same too.

    I hope you have a better experience the next time you go in.

    I find this is often, though not always, a reflection of management.
