How to press this star block?

I am making Jinny Beyers Echoes pattern. This is my first try at the "B" block. The pattern has no pressing directions so I took a guess. My first attempt is reasonably square, and pretty flat but there is some horrible seam build up. Does any one have a better idea of how to press the seams so I do not get this horrible seam build up?

Please do not say press all the seams open. It is harder enough to get the points pointy without adding open seams.
