Default Row by Row and applique

Just for my own curiosity. I see row by row winners coming out of the woodwork lately. Only one here in NM so far and believe me I know why. The amount of applique on NM rows is wow. I'm shooting for the end of the month due to tacking all this applique down. On to my question....I make quilts for use, this one included. It got me wondering if people are not tacking down their applique to finish faster? Does anyone ever not tack down their applique and just quilt over it and hope for the best? Thanks for entertaining my curiosity. Rachel

There does seem to be a lot of winners already up here too.
Blessed are the children of the piecemakers for they shall inherit the quilts!

I see lots of winners here too. I also sew down my appliqué, I would be worried about it coming loose after washing.

Do you mean they are just fusing it and then no sewing? They are winning for that? I never saw one in person so I'm curious now.

Are they using raw edge appliqué where it is fused and the edges stitched by machine but not turned under? That would be my preferred method. I saw the panel done in my quilt shop, that's how that was done.

    Jean,
I wondering if people did raw edge, fused but didn't stitch the edges down? Just quilted over the appliqués. I guess I was wondering since it takes me a while to stitch around appliqué, I would love to be faster lol
