    Default NCW lessons learned?

Ok so not strictly a quilting question but I know many have made the clutch - so please: What are your lessons learned?

I'm starting my first one - I've got the pieces cut out and I've made the flap etc, and I already notice the pattern description is lacking in some details (reading it and comparing to her pictures). Also I cut the D piece in three pieces the first time LOL such a noob mistake... I've joined the FB group ("NCW ADDICTS") and read some of the more obviously important files there but I would LOVE to get some pointers from you guys!

My quilting guru Helena and I are getting together tomorrow night to make these and I'd love to go there prepared, as this project was my idea.

Btw, metal snaps - won't hold or? I've ordered the twist snaps but they seem really fiddly to install...

    THANK YOU for any input!!

I find that putting the snap or twist lock at 2 inches instead of the 2 1/2 inches works better. Takes a lot of stress off the closure when the wallet is full.
back at it there is some info here for cutting the hole if you use the twist lock

I cant find the post I did with how to poke the zipper ends out helps to keep top of pocket flat

You can find that picture tutorial for poking the zipper ends out if you go on photos on the NCW FB group page where the documents are listed. Look in photos, someone did a detailed pictorial on how to do this. I just looked at it this morning.

I agree with Dolores about the placement of the closure. I am using professional snaps set with an industrial size snap press, they are holding pretty well. I'm not sure how a less strong snap would work. Also the hole you make for these is tiny.

Have fun and welcome to the addicts group. You'll want to make more than one!

So far I have done well. With directions from Jean, Pat and Doloris all went together smooth. Even doing the double zip pouch. I have one reg size and one mini waiting on twist locks. Very frustrated that the company I ordered from even though in North Carolina. Is shipping from China. (make that a slow boat from China as I ordered on June 29 and they just shipped from china yesterday. I found an Etsy shop selling the same thing just a couple dollars more. I ordered yesterday morning and they have already shipped to me, I should have them Monday! Once I do the twist locks I will see how the rest goes.
I have not had any issues to this point but asked ? here when I was not sure and got great responses! Thanks Ladies! I do not do FB so can not join the addicts.

I think mine are on the same boat, and they are only coming from Canada!!! I'd have thought they'd be here a couple days ago. If they are not here by Monday, I'll be contacting them about it. I know they have been shipped, but that was a week ago today!

ridiculous in shipping especially since I specifically looked for a *not china shipped* company. I will not do business with that one again. Thankfully I will get some early next week. AND eventually if the boat don't sink I will get the china shipment.

I just got my China Shipment today. I've ordered other hardware that came from there, some came much more quickly than I thought it would, others were longer. Prices are pretty good. Hopefully the quality is
    OK.

I will try hers next. I ordered the templates, they did take some time to come from Canada.

I hope the quality is decent or they will go back for the length of time I have to wait. Wish Michaels, Joanns or Hobby Lobby would carry hardware we need at a decent price . I don't want to pay 3 or 4 bucks a piece.
