    Question What type of quilting?

I made this quilt for my best friend's new baby and I can't decide how to quilt it. I'm thinking hand-quilting because my machine didn't like to deal with it even for piecing. However, I can't decide what kind of pattern it needs or if I should just stitch-in-the-ditch or what?

There is a lot of movement in this quilt. I don't think a complicated stitch will show up. I advise doing SITD around the blocks and on the diagonals.

I do hand quilting all the time. I would just do a simple X inside each quilt block. Your quilt is really nice, love the colors!

Since it's for a baby, it will probably be washed a lot. I like to do the ladder stitch (looks like a double sided blanket stitch) and stitch over all the seams for a baby quilt or the serpentine (wavy) stitch. My stepmother made a beautiful hand quilted baby quilt for my oldest and every time I washed it, I had to hand stitch some seams together.

    Beautiful quilt BTW!

Thanks guys for the suggestions! I've never done the serpentine stitch, I'll have to look it up. I do like the idea of doing that kind of modified SITD cause it would help protect the seams from multiple washings. It's going to a very outdoorsy family that lives outside of town so I'm sure it will end up getting used outside more often than not.
