M*'s rule for backing size?

Hi I work in the quilting department of MSQC and we like to have your backing 8 inches wider and 8 inches longer than your quilt top. So if your top is 80 " by 80 " your backing needs to be at least 88" x 88". Thanks for asking.

Ok, got the backing part....I guess I want to know if the top needs have fabric added to it?

The top is whatever size you make it. You never have to add anything to it to have it quilted by a longarm.

Thanks Karen for answering her question, I misunderstood what she was asking.

May your answer was fine. I didn't state my question right at first. Now I know about the top AND the backing :)
