Default Adding a border to already ragged quilt?

Doing a baby quilt for a co-worker, just something really simple. I thought I was done, but I'm dissatisfied - I feel like it needs a border. I'd already snipped all the outside edges - it's basically a finished quilt. Do you think it's possible to add a border at this point? Seems like it will probably be a pain in the tail, but I can't think of why I couldn't do it....another option might be to add a colorful binding, but catching all of those ragged edges - seems like it might be TOO much trouble.

    Anyway, I'd appreciate any input....

(After washing/drying, it's a little more rumpled than I prefer, but it probably just makes it look kinda shabby chic. That's what I'm telling myself, anyway. )

Annie, I think yur quilt looks just fine as is. Babies need quilts of all sizes. If you want to add a border, yes if could be done, but why bother? Maybe you could make a matching burp cloth or bib? That would be sweet and a lot less trouble.

I think it looks nice. The last baby quilts I made, I included a changing pad. They are so useful and the mothers loved them! That might be an idea for you.

Thanks everyone. It's not the size, I think it's just that with so many light colors it feels bland without a darker color around the edges. But I suspect the recipient wouldn't think a thing about it, and the idea of jazzing the gift up with burp cloths or a changing pad is great - will make me feel better and it's much easier!

I made a rag quilt for my son and he asked me to make it longer so I added to it after had been completed, clipped and washed. It wasn't too difficult and dipped and washed it again after the addition.

Annie, I made a small quilt and I too was dissatisfied with the edges. Next time I make one I'll add 2 1/2" wide blocks around the edge in a border colour. You could add a border of narrow blocks to your quilt. (I was so dissatisfied with my quilt I actually binned it).

I actually like rag quilts without a border - it seems more in line with that type of quilt. But if you really think it needs a border, you should be able to add one - I would just make it the same way you did the squares (although it would be long and thin). Use the same flannel or whatever you used as batting and rag it where it attaches to the current quilt in the same fashion. Then you can finish the edge with binding if you don't like the ragged edge look. Hope that makes sense.
