Sheila, yes, the strips between blocks help separate them. Notice Jenny is saying add the strip (2.5 inches) to the right of the block. (or make the blocks longer on the right side as FabStripper noted) There is also, it looks like a 1 1/5 strip around all of the blocks as well to even out the design. Hope this helped you !
