Do not do too much cutting all at one time. It's hard on the wrists & arms. I can think of only 2 quilts that I cut all the pieces out first before I started sewing. That was the Freedom's Star and one of the Turning Twenty...Again quilts (in my albums). The Freedom's Star included log cabin blocks. I laid out all the pieces in the order they were to be sewn, which made it easy to sew the blocks together. I quite often cut & sew, laying out the blocks as I get them done. I like to cut my fabric in smaller sections (FQs or 1/2 yd.), so I don't have a lot of heavy yardage falling off the side of the cutting table. It's just easier to manage.
