It will be a fun, beautiful accent piece even if it didn't work!

Oh how I wish I had the room for one of these!! My MIL has an old treadle Singer that she's currently using as like an end-table kinda thing in her living room. Belonged to her hubby's mother (who just passed away at 104 yrs old!). It looks like it's in great shape and would just need some cleaning. I don't know model number or anything specific, just that it says "Singer" in iron across the bottom of it by the foot control.

She says I can have it whenever I want... I just literally have NO WHERE to put it Some day.....

I haven't had a chance to really clean her up yet and this color isn't as accurate as in person. I love the rocket man look of it. I do think with a cleaning and a new cord it would work nicely.
Can't wait to see what happens; I am on pins and needles with you!
Congrats on the new machines, Nan - even if they don't work, they will probably be easy to fix. No plastic parts like today's machines.

Blondie, you're machine looks very much like this one:

I accidently fell into collecting Morse Machines. I'm betting Rodney was made in the same factory in Japan - Toyota in the early 50's. If you look on the bottom side, you will probably see the TOYOTA name.

BTW - anyone in the Lockport, IL area - that is a great buy on ebay!

Thanks folks. I am very excited to see these machines tomorrow. The lady told me the featherweight works beautifully but she just doesn't sew anymore. The aqua one the woman said the tension is a bit off but believes it can be adjusted. I do have a friend who works on sewing machines so hoping he will be able to get them both tip top.

I will let you know as soon as I check them out. Yikes, so excited. You would think I was 6 years old on Christmas Eve.

    Donna,
My Rodney was made in Japan post WWII! (under the Precision Sewing Machine Deluxe Edition moniker) I found an article on a blog here: Vintage Sewing Machines: Japanese Clones of the 40's, 50's, and 60's I haven't cleaned it up yet, it will definitely need a new cord, as the one on it is hard and starting to crack a bit. I just love the look and color of it.
You know they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I think it could be said of those of us who love older machines whether they are classified as a collectible or not! Just think of all the original owners of Featherweights. Who would have ever thought of an interested resurgence in sewing/quilting that would make these gems so collectible and go for sky high prices? LOL. Still want me a featherweight.
