You could put 4 heart blocks with a border then round it off.

Option: Christmas tree skirt tutorial on MSQC, then. She shows how to cut it into a hexagon shape, but you can also cut off the finished square of this (or whatever other pattern you like) so it is circular or is a square with scallops -- which would help give the feel of a round topper. Good luck.
