Granny Square quilt what color for center?
Idk if anyone can answer this because I can't post photos from my kindle. I have a granny square top all cut out and have 3 blocks sewed together so far. I am using Moda Rambling Rose JR and Lori Holt Bee in My Bonnet pattern. The fabric is rose, pink, brown, cream, lgrayish green-andteal?-- and mint. I selected yardage from my stash as the center "eye" in each flower in a dark yellow calico print. I am agonizing over those center squares. They just don't look right. For uniformity I want to use the same color for each center. I have tried a lighter shade of yellow (looks too washed out), black (too dark) tan (too blah) white--okay but not great, have tried both solids and prints. Nothing looks right. I am at my wit's end and can't assemble any blocks until I figure this out. If anybody has made this what did you do? By the way in this JR about 80% of the strips are prints not solids. So maybe there's too many prints going on? But at the price of JR I wouldn't think you would have to buy more yardage to supplement it.

I have Lori's book and want to make a granny square quilt also. I am going to use my 1930's reproduction fabrics and thought about using red as the center block. Not sure if red will work or not as I have not picked out any fabrics yet. Still just an idea floating around. LOL!!

Had to google Granny Square Quilt: https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...50.DG8ojca3c4k
Looks like most of them have different centers.
My advice is to audition the center piece. Cut out enough squares for several blocks, set them out on a design wall (or in my case, the design floor) and use a different fabric in the center for all of them, then take a picture and look at the picture.

Thx for the input ladies. I do this just about every time I make a quilt, finish a few blocks then start second guessing myself. I think I need to step away from the project for a day or two and try to get my head together.

There's a free class on craftsy covering color theory. It might give you some idea's you haven't considered yet. It's a short class, maybe 8 sessions no more than 15 minutes each.

I may have to investigate further. I have never been on the craftsy website. I don't even know what that is, but I notice people mention it a lot.
