Default Apliquick - What do you think?

    Apliquick.

Tips & Lessons > Using Your Apliquick Tools

Has anybody tried this? Did you find it easier and/or quicker than needle turn applique?

$39 for two metal rods seems pretty expensive. Any ideas on a less expensive alternative? I have a bamboo stiletto already.

I've never seen these before. For what it's worth I think you could probably look around & find other things that would work just as well, like your bamboo sticks or maybe dental tools. I've seen those at the Dollar store. Sometimes I fin neat tools at the hardware store tht I can repurpose in my quilting.
    Just a thought...

My daughter just made fondue. Those skewers have a very similar fork-like tip on them. Definitely thinking outside the box on this one, guys. I'm sure you can find something that will work just as well without having to spend almost 40 bucks for these tools. Many of us already have a stiletto of some sort so that's half way there.

I saw no real need for a 'fork'. A 'spatula' would work as well. As would a finger.

The first thing I thought was bamboo sticks too. That's way to much for a gadget like that.

I bought a set of these at the quilt show in Birmingham, UKabout two years having watched the demonstrator make it look so easy.
I'd like to say i am now a master of applique now but sadly not......having had a number of goes i just get into such a mess with the glue....would really love a couple of lessons though.
Might get them back out of the drawer and give them another go

I don't crochet but bought a small sewing table (like an end table) at a yard sale that had a ziploc bag of Grandma's odds and ends--zippers, thimbles, needles and a couple buttons and crochet hooks. One crochet hook was incredibly super skinny, an aha moment for me. I took some pliers and squeezed the hook flat because it kept catching and now it is my perfect tool. I use it to pull the bobbin thread up, open small seams at the iron that need to be pressed open, and it clings to my magnetic pin caddy so I don't lose it. I only paid $5.00 for the table too! And it has 2 drawers and a lid that lifts up with storage inside.

Denise, having just started messing with applique, my first thought ( like many others have posted) was going to the Canton First Monday's Flea Market and getting either surgical or dental tools that would work just as well for a WHOLE lot less than forking over the bucks for what is presented in the tutorial. WOW, pricey!

Fondue forks? Oh my heavens...we got two sets when we got married 42 years ago...And when we bought our cabin, there were THREE sets there. I could pass out forks for days......But a bamboo would be gentler on the fabric than the two prongs on a fork...
