Thanks everyone for your thoughts and ideas. It seems like there are dozens of ways to do QAYG. This one seemed the easiest as I didn't have to mess with sashing strips on either the top or the bottom. I just didn't account for the darker top fabric showing through. I just started quilting in September so the idea of trying to quilt a whole quilt through my machine seems pretty daunting - although I supposed I'll be doing it anyway when I attach the backing and stitch in the ditch around the blocks. That said, I would never have been able to do all of the fussier quilting I did to each block if I had waited to do it all at the same time. I really don't want to be sending quilts off to be long-armed - I would like the satisfaction of knowing I made the entire quilt from start to finish - besides the extra $$ it costs to have that service done! I think the bottom line is I'll have to take into consideration the colors of the fabrics I use when I do a QAYG quilt and hopefully it won't be an issue! Thanks again!
