Default What size should my quilt be?

Hi ladies Since I need to speed up things a little bit or I'll never be able to make my sister a quilt for her graduation this summer, I was thinking about measurements!

I have no idea about the measurements because she'll go study abroad or in the worst scenario in another city in Italy and I want to make a "one fits all" quilt, I don't want it to be too small for sure! I tried to ask people around me but they weren't sure, so I need your help!

My thinking is about 59''x71''. It should be wide enough, longh enough and a good size. Of course I could make some arrangements at the end depending how many disappearing hourglass blocks I'll make

    What do you think?

If you intend it to cover a bed, I find your measurements a little short. I would consider at least 80" length (2,00 meters) and more probably 88" (2,20 meters). Beds are between 72 and 80" (1,80-2,00 meters) long. The quilts I'm making for my nieces are 56" x 80" (1,40 x 2,00 meters). I based my decision upon the most usual duvet cover and blanket sizes for twin sized beds.

I've just found a link that had been posted in the forum before: it gives you info on how to calculate quilt sizes:
    https://www.amishcountrylanes.com/Pages/QuiltSize.shtml

This is another forum member answer to a similar question:
    measurments for quilt sizes

I suppose bed standards in Italy are similar to Spain and France I'm more familiar with. Our individual beds are 0,90 x 2,00 or 1,05 x 2,00 meters, and double beds usually are 1,35 x 2,00 or 1,60 x 2,00 meters. Except in my family where we keep antique furniture that fits no standards. :P

The easiest way (for me) is to look at batting sizes. For example the twin size batting is 70" by 90", I think. So the twin bed quilt would be a little smaller than those dimensions - 65" by 85"
