Smile Putting a zipper into a purse

I just watched Jenny's new tute on zippered pouches and loved it! I have all my materials to make my DD and DIL each one of the Tumbler bags. My DD asked if it had a zipper closure or just the tab. I asked her if she wanted a zipper and she indicated she would. So now, can a zipper closure be used on this bag? Would it be done like the zipper pouch? I need to go back and watch the Tumbler tute again but wondered if this could be done and has anyone used a zipper on that bag or another? TIA!!

I certainly think that if you watch both tutes - you can combine the info and adapt it to a tumbler bag! Can't wait to see the final result

I did a YouTube series on putting a zipper into Jenny's charm tote. You can find the links to the videos in my user notes. Click on my name, then view profile to find the user notes. Scroll through the notes ( there are a bunch of them!) till you find the one about inserting a zipper into a tote.

I have put zippers in Totes and bags a lot before now, you need a zip slightly shorter then the bag, press the top and lining of the bag in 1/4 of an inch, I trim the wadding back slightly so its not too bulky. Insert the zip between the top two layers and edge stitch. I must admit Its one thing I do baste to make sure it stays in place. Open the zip and then carry on in the same way as jenny did. Never failed yet. Its a bit fiddly but works.

Jean's zipper tut is the way to go. I have put a zipper in using this tut and she really makes it simple.

Thanks Carol. I was using longer zippers, but may try the method Jenny talks about. Either way gets the job done!
