stitch length?
What stitch length do you use when doing straight line quilting-such as SITD, crosshatching, echo?
I am curious because I have been spending hours now taking out my quilting, I used the wrong color bobbin thread and did not notice until I ran out of bobbin thread. Would be much easier if I had used a longer stitch. My eyes are going batty!!!!!

Re: stitch length?
I'm having to take out my quilting and I was finished!!!! My bobbin did not sew properly, but I didn't notice until I finished. I had been checking at the start every few minutes, but when it looked good I decided I probably didn't need to keep checking. Lesson learned. Now I'm going to have to go to quilt shop and ask the machine guru if there is something wrong with the bobbin case. It is a fairly new machine and I hadn't done a quilt on it before. What a mess.

Re: stitch length?
I usually set a bit longer stitch. At 3 on my machine. Normal stitch length is 2.2.

Re: stitch length?
I also increase my stitch length to 3. I have a Bernina.

Re: stitch length?
I also change to a 3. I feel it bunches to much on the smaller stitch since I'm quilting through several layers.

Re: stitch length?
I change to 3.0 when I remember otherwise its the regular 2.5. My other problem is when I start at 3.0 and put it away for a few days I forget to re set for 3.0 so half is quilted 3.0 and half 2.5... Good thing most are for me or charity!

Re: stitch length?
I piece at 2.0 and quilt at 3.0. Machine default is 2.5 so I always check as I turn it on. I always put new bobbins when I quilt, but I piece with random colors -actually finishing up previous bobbins- as most of my quilts are scrappy.

Here's another vote for 3.0 for SITD.

3.0 is what I use also, they just look so very small when removing so many.
