is it worth having an airlift in a sewing cabinet? kind of long....
Ok, here is the condensed version. Most of you know that I care for my FIL w/alzheimer's. If I spend too much time in my sewing room, which is downstairs in the finished basement, he gets weird because he cannot see me. I tried sewing on the dining table for a few days when hubby was out of town, but i just dont want to use that space when i need to clear room every night for dinner.
I have an older sauder sewing cabinet that I am not using at the moment, and that I promised to a friend when we did my sewing room and had no need for it (and she would completely understand if I needed to keep it for a while longer.
Sooooooo.... when I was perusing used sewing machines online a few days ago, I came across someone selling an Arrow sewing cabinet, Model Marilyn, in excellent condition (along with a Brother xv 1200). This has an airlift, and the footprint is small when closed - so I could make it work in my living room so that I can sew a bit more. The lowest price I have seen this model online is over $600!
They are asking $120 - including the brother sewing machine (very basic machine). My thinking is that even though I have a basic sewing cabinet that I could bring into the living room, it might be worth it to get this one with the airlift for ease of putting everything away... so I could actually do some piecing in the living room where FIL can see me...
If anyone owns this brand and has input I would love to hear it! Enablers welcome
