Hi there!

I am hoping to learn from an experienced paper piecer a few organizational or process tips.

This is my query!

I want to prepare my fabric in appropriately sized strips for sewing to the foundation paper (Printed out in about two weeks when my EQ7 arrives). I want to design the number of blocks and size of blocks so I can incorporate a large portion of Kona White Solid jelly roll I have left over from a previous project. I thought it might be good to try to limit the amount of wasted material by thinking ahead and figuring out if there is a convienant way to cut my fabrics in strips for laying against my foundation in easy chain piecing fashion.

My pattern will be using stars of different coloured points - my fat quarter pile has begun with these 10 handpicked today!

So to the experienced paper piecers - what is the best method for attempting to create ordered 'scraps' in some form for use in a chain piecing workflow?

I could use any and all advice related to the process as this is my first large scale paper piecing project - and of course, it has to be a quilt for my mother! The first! Eek!

The preparation will be very important for my tidyness and fabric-frugality! You would be saving me some (but of course not all!) the less smooth experiences I'm sure are hiding in this project.

And your help is VERY much appreciated
