Looking for Sunbonnet Sue & Overall Sam Vintage
I would love to make a Sunbonnet Sue and Overall Same dresser runner. I have collected some 30's prints. Does anyone have or know of a good vintage pattern? I have seen several but not sure which are really vintage. Some Sue have hands others not. Some Sam are facing forwards head down , some are sideways with a fishing pole. Help please I would like to make this 30's style in memory of my Mom who loved them. Thanks all

Re: Looking for Sunbonnet Sue & Overall Sam Vintage
Let me know when you find it. Those two little folks were my first attempt at appliquing and I made a cradle quilt for my daughter when she was born with those guys appliqued on white squares and then sewn together. I was quilting before I knew I was quilting! So they have a bit of memory for me and I have been considering making something with them. I know they have changed in past 35 years!

Re: Looking for Sunbonnet Sue & Overall Sam Vintage
The vintage patterns seem to have fewer applique pieces. The 30's & 40's listed on ebay are interesting to show the style.

I don't know how to link, but found a 1930's sunbonnet sue on freepatterns.com. It is the pattern I remember as a child. Good luck. The originals are very much like folk art with the "less is more" style.

That looks like it's 30's era. I fixed the link above in my post. Check out some of the vintage ones on ebay. There's even a pattern for Sue & overall Sam.

I love this absolutely gorgeous! Are the blocks each Sue is appliqued to white or and off white or a blush white?

Re: Looking for Sunbonnet Sue & Overall Sam Vintage
Too me it appears to be muslin. It is very thin and the colors look brighter in the picture. It is only a top that is t complete.

My mom has patterns for both Sunbonnet Sue and Overall Sam/Fisherman Sam. I asked her how old they were but she has no idea. They were passed down from her mother. I have a picture of her Sunbonnet Sue but can't post it from home. If you would like I can post a picture of it tomorrow from work.
I meant to add that we have always called him Fisherman Fred and Farmer Fred! Sam is a new one to me! ;)

She has currently been making the Fisherman Sam for her first GGS due in March! I have always loved them but I am not very good at applique!

These are the ones I "started" with! I made my baby girl a cradle quilt with these on one side, and Mickey Mouse on the other! That was 38 years ago!

Re: Looking for Sunbonnet Sue & Overall Sam Vintage
The patterns attached by Coffeebreak are the ones I am familiar with. I did a needlepoint Sun Bonnet Sue in the 70's for my niece, now the mother of four!

Also, if you know someone who has a Accuquilt - check with them and see if they might have these dies. They have dies for both of those. I have the Accuquilt but have not bought those dies or I would offer to cut some out for you. Here is what they look like:
