This pattern has been whispering in my ear "Please make me."
I've gathered the materials, have the book with the pattern in it, and think (?) I will attempt it.
For those who don't know...I just finished my very first quilt...like Sunday morning at 12:15am when I put the last stitch in the binding. (Happy dance)
I'm not really a fan of hearts. I have one (a heart that is) but pattern hearts have never been my thing, yet this pattern has been speaking to me for several months now while I've been learning on my first quilt.
So I was really looking over the pattern yesterday (between yawns from not enough sleep, thanks to quilt #1) and it dawned on me that I have no idea how in the world I should/would quilt it. There are no easy jelly roll strips or borders on this one to echo.
I've a few ideas on how to work with this on my small home sewing machine, but after doing the quilting on #1 above, which ended up to be full sized () I've learned a thing or two....like a small throat space is not your friend.
The original pattern is very swirly, complicated, and something I will not be able to do for lack of skills at this time, but I was thinking of FMQ echoing concentric heart shapes within the hearts themselves. Then maybe wide loopy zig zags in the straight and chevron parts. A take on what the original quilt has in the grey areas.
(No...I don't know how to FMQ yet...)
How would you guys quilt this?
The first two are from the original pattern, the remaining two are a variation. All the other pics I can find of this quilt have very similar quilting and I'm a little stumped.
