Re: What is your favorite bag pattern?
I usually wing it and make up my own, however one I have bought and used a lot is the Amy Butler Birdy bag. I made one for myself as a carry on bag a few years ago and loved it. I've made several for DIL that she uses as a diaper bag/carry all. I think the pattern is a bit pricey but it is a great bag

If you find a bag you like but it's too big or small, adjust it. Right now I'm in the midst of making to Tuscany Tote by Pink Sand Beach but I need to add a zipper to the top. I can't use a bag that doesn't close.
Have you looked at the Dresden bag and the Tumbler bag from MSQC? They are't very large I think. And free pattern and free tutorial!

Re: What is your favorite bag pattern?
Good morning everyone!
This is one of s the first bags I made: A zippered, lined tote bag for you to sew by Debbie Shore - YouTube
Her directions are clear and easy to follow... though I didn't care for her fabric or interfacing. I do enjoy being able to watch and re-watch videos.
This is another Debbie Shore bag I've made:
Reversible messenger bag tutorial by Debbie Shore - YouTube
And this from byannie.com: https://www.byannie.com/shop/product...-shoulder-bag/ I love they way Soft and Stable gives body to bags.
If you have any concerns or questions about zippers in your bags... check out these tutorials.... they are really easy to follow:https://www.byannie.com/zippers_videos/
I'm back to the sewing machine... I have six orders to fill. Have a blessed day

I have made a few bags following Jenny's tutorial for the charm pack bag. I am new to quilting (took a class in July) and the tutorial was easy to follow and the bags turned out great. Even made 2 Halloween trick or treat bags for my granddaughter and great-granddaughter, and then used the other left-over material to make a diaper bag for my great-granddaughter who was supposed to be born October 1st - this turned out to be a great-grandson born on September 9th

Depends on how big you want to bag.....?? Of course you can make the charm pack bag ( from Jenny's tutorial ) bigger than what the tutorial calls for.
Take a look on YouTube.com/MS!QC Bag Tutorials.
Also, each of the tutorials below can be made by a beginner......none of them are difficult to make, honest !
Jenny has also done a few more bag tutorials....one with Vanessa Vargas ( the Crafty Gemini ) too.
Here's a 2 part tutorial Jenny did with Vanessa Vargas

Last but not least.....the Zipper Pouch Tutorial ( one of my favorites ! ) by Jenny

Hope that helps...( I went on YouTube.com to find these)....and while I am not sure, I think this is all of the tote bag tutorials that Jenny has done for MSQC

If you want the bottom of the bag to remain flat and stable, what do you use in it? I have used an insert made of very stiff cardboard, covered in fabric, and just placed inside, but I would like something slightly more flexible, with some forgiveness to it.
