Good Morning Everyone!

I have a question about how to attach leaves to a table runner top before I make the quilted sandwich. The leaves are quite intricate and are approx. 6 inches. I've tried that needle turn applique in my first quilting class, wasn't good at it At All. Could I use that fusible stuff and just fuse the leaves to the square then go back and do a hand embroidered blanket stitch? Or a different stitch? Would that keep the edges from fraying? The leaves themselves will not be quilted.
