First attempt at FMQ and it doesn't seem to move all that freely
I'm attempting to do some FMQ on the border of a quilt. I have a darning/quilting foot on the machine. I've lowered the feed dogs and reduced the tension/pressure on the foot. I also have an extension table and a pretty big surface for the quilt to lay on. For some reaon though is doesn't seem to move as smoothly around as they make it look in the tutorials. Oh and I'm wearing gloves. Which is something I'd have never thought of if I hadn't watched a tutorial.
Any ideas why it doesn't seem to move as freely? Just my own beginner's tension? Should I wipe my base with a piece of waxpaper like we use to do metal sliding boards?
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Take care,
Susan
