On the "design floor"! I don't know that I can improve on this block layout, but maybe you can? Opinions very welcome!
I'm thinking maybe a thin border of the pale green & a wider border of purple. Purple binding. No gray fabric left.

PS that's a stripe of sunlight at the top ... from the window.

That's a really fun quilt. I'm going to have to agree with Karen on this one. I like it a lot.
Be warned. I am BORED.
This could be dangerous.
When you get cold just go stand in the corner.
They are usually 90 degrees.
A giraffe's coffee would be cold by the time it reached the bottom of his throat.
Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??
It is a VERY attractive quilt. I think the block layout is just fine. Instead of a thin pale green border, I think a more "medium" pale green border would be nice, if you have enough material. In my mind, a thin border is 3/4" to 1.5", whereas a medium would be 2" - 2.5 ". I think this quilt could handle more of the green if you have enough fabric left. If you do not, just the thin green will look very good. A purple outer border and binding will be very nice.
No beauty shines brighter than that of a good heart.
I would leave it as is and do a narrow black border and then the purple. Also, I like your design ceiling!!
pat.
No rain....no rainbows!
I like it the way it us, too.....and might not border it at all...

I appreciate everyone's opinions! Thank you!
The pattern has no borders, but the three colors they use are more similar in tone -- blue, dark blue, & green. If I was doing it again I'd probably go with something richer than the green I used with the purple & gray -- my green is so light it's almost white. But since it's too late now, a little more green around the edge might help balance it a bit. We'll see.
Count your blessings on the color scheme -- I almost did two purples & a pink. The colors "went" IMO but it was so loud I didn't think anyone would ever be able to sleep under itBut apparently -- according to the August issue of American Patchwork & Quilting -- purple & green make people cringe. Also blue & orange, another fave of mine, & red & pink. The quilt police probably have a search warrant out for me.
PS Pretty nifty how I'm getting those blocks to stick to the ceiling, right?
Uhm...I might be the only one, but I would actually move the blocks around and distribute the different blocks better over the whole of the quilt. For example, you have more of the small rectangle blocks on the top of the quilt, but none on the bottom, the bottom row (well, the top one on the pic) has only 2 different block types, etc. You have 4 different types of blocks, I'd make sure that you have one of each in every row, in different columns and fill in the rest with the remaining blocks.
I'm not sure I'd add a border either. Maybe just a thin purple one and then the binding in green? Or the other way around?
I like it! With or without a border... depending on the size you're going for![]()
