Machine clicking? Fabric not feeding--pulling, bad stiches? Help! Brother PC420
I have a relatively new machine, purchased April 2013. I've hardly used it. I am having issues with the machine making loud clicking sounds when the needle comes back up. It's catching and pulling the fabric, like the feed dogs aren't working properly. I took out the bobbin, shuttle, and cleaned the lint out. Last time this fixed the issue. It almost sounds like the thread is catching on something when it goes across the bobbin (shuttle maybe?) when completing the stitch. I'm so frustrated and don't want to bring it in for repair if it's something that I can figure out.
Is it a tension problem? New needle? Issue that needs repair? I don't know. I've only completed 2 small baby-sized quilt tops on the machine in it's entire lifetime, so it's not like it's been well used.

Have you changed the needle yet?

sounds like there might be a stray thread in the bobbin area somewhere. Take it apart again and get a magnifying glass and a pair of tweezers and look really well in there. Then take the thread off and rethread with another thread and another bobbin.

Yeah, I did find a thread in there. I was trying to fix a tear in a bed sheet so it looked like there was also a thread from the sheet stuck in there. It was still sounding funny when I pulled it out though. But it's fixed now-- I think I had rethreaded the needle while the presser foot was down.

I just consulted a few videos online and think I'm having a major tension issue. I think I might have threaded the needle while the presser foot was down which apparently screws with the tension. Rookie mistake I guess--glad I wasn't working on my quilt top when it glitched up. Re threaded everything, wound a new bobbin. It's working again. Lesson learned :-/

Check to make sure your bobbin is in right way up.
