Default For all you long arm quilters

Just a general question - is it just me or do you find a quilt to be stiffer when there is more quilting on it? I love the detailed quilting, but the two I've done that were heavily quilted were really stiff. Is it my batting (I usually use bamboo), or is that a quality of dense quilting?

Dense Quilting will always cause a stiff Quilt. You are matting down the batting so much that there is no air left to make it fluffy. To make a fluffy Quilt you quilt less.

On one quilting did, I used a smaller than usual meander/stipple. The quilt crinkled a lot more and shrank a bunch wheni washed it, made it too small for the bed.
