    Lightbulb Old Quilt, wearing out

I have a quilt that my Great Aunt gave me when I got married 42 yrs ago. Her mother made it for her wedding day. It is satin and filled with feathers. Aunt Patty used it and I haven't, but the satin has places on the back where it has rotted and the feathers are coming out. I would like to preserve it and not sure how. I have thought about getting organza the color of the quilt and make a case for it and then stitch around it. Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do to preserve it.

    Thanks
    Jackie Gross

I don't have a clue but I want to say how lucky you are to have this beauty that has been around for so long! Good luck in preserving it. I am sure somebody will come along shortly with just the perfect answer for you.

Jackie, contact: Carol Elmore - Quiltmaker,Instructor,AQS Certified Quilt Appraiser

She's great on history and knows all about old quilts - she also has a close friend who does restoration work and I know she'd be most happy to give you some 'authentic' advice. Tell her a member of the Piece Corps Quilt Guild, in St. Joseph, referred you - she's been to our meetings as a guest speaker several times and is great to work with.

    Be warned. I am BORED.
    This could be dangerous.

When you get cold just go stand in the corner.
    They are usually 90 degrees.

A giraffe's coffee would be cold by the time it reached the bottom of his throat.
Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??
