    Default math help again

    Ok..I have decided to do a DP4P. they're fun and I have picked up a yard and a quarter of Lottie Dot by Westminster (listen to me sounding like I know what all i'm talking about!! LOL!). Anyway, it's fun and I want to do it with white.

    Then I think I might sash it but will figure that out later.

    My question is...according to my Kaufman app, I can get 80 - 5 inch squares out of this fabric...is that right? when I make the block I can then square it to 8 inches?? I have 50 inches in length by 42 inches wide. What I don't know is how big of a quilt will that make with or without sashing? I don't know how to figure that part out. Can someone help?

    No idea what to sash it with...though I have this dots fabric...just don't know if I have enough because I only have 2 pieces that are 18 by 24. I think maybe a pale solid pink might be nicer?

    5x8=40" so 8 across

    1 1/4 yd= 45"

    5x9=45" so 9 down providing you don't have to trim anything or you got a tad extra

    9x8=72

    8x8=64 if you have to trim

    so with my thinking you will get either 72 or 64 5" squares

    I see you said you have 50" so if no trimming you can get the 80 5" squares

    never made the d4p so can't help there.

    When I do the calculations I get only 72 and that's if you have at least 40" in width and 45" length. Do you have 1-1/4 yd or 50"? If you have 50 " you should get 80 squares. I believe the unfinished block would be 8-1/2".
    If you get 80 print squares and add 80 white that would make 40 blocks. Set 5 x 7(35) would be approx. 40 x 56. If you sash it would be bigger.
