    Default Question about consistancy

I did some straight stitching w/walking foot on a block and it came out great.
Then I have been doing the same on other blocks (different fabric and batting) and it really
looks terrible. The stitches don't stay the same length and I have no idea what is causing
it other than maybe a different batting? Unfortunately I don't remember the name of
the one that turned out well but the "bad" one is Pellon Nature's Touch. The first one is
much softer than the Nature's Touch. Does batting make that big of a difference?

You may have to adjust the foot pressure to get consistent results with different battings.

Have you changed your needle lately? Always start a new project with a new needle. A dull or bent needle could be causing problems.

Can you test it with your previous batting and see if it goes back to working correctly?

Also, different thicknesses of batting might require adjustments to stitch length or to tension.

Or maybe your second project is bigger so there is more drag? Try to reduce it by piling it on the table, fluffing it up around the needle, carry some weight on your chest, support it with your hands, etc.

Thanks for the replies. I am trying all suggestions. Also did some searches in the forum and have
    learned some things there.
The project is definitely larger Cat so am thinking drag isn't helping the situation HA
I am new to machine quilting (long time hand quilter) so hopefully with trying different
things I will manage to make a quilt I won't want to let the dog lay on.
It's just frustrating to spend lots of money on fabric and then have it not turn out well.
