    Default Have you ever...

Have you ever had a quilt that is so close to being done you can taste it, and you know you have to finish it before you start anything else or you'll never finish it and then find yourself avoiding your sewing room in general hoping it'll finish itself? Yeah, that's where I am. 12" blocks, with a 6" square in the middle. I am stippling the border area of each block. What I've done looks fantastic. I'm (almost) halfway done. I'm so very sick of this quilt, and not finishing it has put me WEEKS behind a very tight quilting schedule. HELP!!!
If you can't see it from 50 yards away on a galloping horse, it doesn't matter.

You know, when I have something like that this is what I do. I make myself set a certain amount of time-say half an hour or an hour-and tell myself I have to clean, sew, whatever for that amount. I set the timer and when it goes off I'm done. Sometimes it motivates me to keep going (like in quilting) and sometimes I'm just happy I got something done (like in cleaning) and can pat myself on the back and escape

Shut the door, open the windows to let the sunshine in. Crank the tunes, sing as loud as you wish and get to sewing.

    Yup, done it.

I forsee an hour of jamming to Roxette in my immediate future. Now if I could just find some good Australian Crawl to add to my phone...

Yes, I am there. I am EXACTLY there. I am working (have been working) on my first truly Modern Quilt - entirely my design. Once, I finished the top, I turned to my online community for quilting ideas. You can read about it here if you wish
Sew Preeti Quilts: My Experiment with Modern Quilting

And now, I am halfway done with quilting it. I have completed quilting the 16-patch blocks and the white portions. Tonight, when I get home I have to start quilting the charcoal portions. Can I taste it? Yes. Am I working on it non-stop? No.
Actually, I put together a D9P quilt top just so that I could come back to this one with renewed vigor and some Bollywood Dance music!!!

I just refolded one of the first quilts I ever started (and have NOT finished) and stored it for another time. Should I take pictures and post to help motivate you so you don't wind up in the same fix I'm in?
    Be warned. I am BORED.
    This could be dangerous.

When you get cold just go stand in the corner.
    They are usually 90 degrees.

A giraffe's coffee would be cold by the time it reached the bottom of his throat.
Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??

That's why I don't sew clothing. It took me so long to make an item that I would put it down and come back later. By the time I finished it I couldn't stand to look at it anymore let alone wear it.
