Default Help with Jenny's new Periwinkle Mug Rug Tutorial

I am attempting to make the mug rug from Jenny's Periwinkle Mug Rug Tutorial. She refers to it as the Periwinkle template but the supply list for the tutorial shows the Wacky Web template and the website has no Periwinkle template so I assume she is using the Wacky Web.

When she cuts out the pieces in her tutorial, her diamonds have points on all sides. I have a MSQC Wacky Web template that I bought a long time ago, but my template is squared off at the bottom and not pointed.

I cut out the pieces using my template and I cannot get this to work at all and I am assuming and am hopeful it is because my template is squared off. If that is not it, then I am doing something really wrong!! I am thinking MSQC has updated the newer Wacky Web templates to be pointed on all 4 corners but am not sure. I have sent an email asking that question. I know they are out of stock right now and also asked when they expect them in.

My question is: has anyone else done this project with the template that is squared off at the bottom and if so, did you have problems or is it just me?? Also if anyone has a Wacky Web template, is yours pointed all around or square off at the bottom? I swear quilting can make me feel pretty dumb at times and this is one of them!! The tutorial looks SO easy and I cannot get this to work. Is it just me or the template??

Oh good grief! Everyone can stop laughing! It was totally me! I just realized I was cutting the squared off part instead of cutting just straight down like I should have. The template shows what it should look like had I looked closely enough. I guess it is pretty obvious, this is the first time I have used this template!!

    I knew I was feeling dumb for a reason-lol!!!

I have not made this mug rug but I have both templates. One is used for the spider web quilt I think - and the other is the corrected one for the periwinkle quilt. I know there is a correction out there somewhere showing how to use the old one so it will work correctly.

i just got the template a week ago and it is squared just a wee bit on the bottom.
I was at a "sewing with Jenny" at MSQC and she discussed the need to make an
additional due to the previous template. And yes, it is the wacky web template
that is used to make the periwinkle and wacky web quilt. I hope this helps a bit.

Now I am wondering if there is a newer version of the Wacky Web template than the one I have. After using mine today, I do think it would be much better if the bottom were made differently. I am going to check further on that.

Thanks to all of you who responded to me. I appreciate it!
