    Default Borgello Quilts

I probably have misspelled the quilt type but, to continue with my question,
Just how difficult are they to make? LOVE the look and even understand the process of making one (but then again I understand the process for a lot of things doesn't mean I can do them.

I am a very new to quilting so, I do not call my self a quilter (just like I know the basics of sewing but, am not a seamstress!)

I am fairly new to quilting also, but I am going to try one. I bought a Bargello Quilt book and it has many quilt designs, so will try one of the easier ones. My hardest part so far is getting 20 fabrics together that I think will look good and make enough contrast for what I want. I am sure it will not be easy, but will be a good learning experience for me. The layout is all figured out for you and all you need to do is follow the map and cut and sew exactly as they have printed. I am sure it will take me quite awhile to do, but what have I got to lose, except maybe my mind !!!

Hi - I think Bargello quilts are so pretty and easy to make! The only thing I would suggest to you is that you label your rows so you don't get them mixed up. I got some out of place and had to rip and resew. Still, it was an easy fix. Refer to your finished pattern often. I would also suggest you make your own design and use only a few fabrics to start. I chose 6 fabrics to work with on my first bargello. Here is how it turned out:

I did a small wallhanging in my sewing group as that was our project for the month and I hated it! My brain isn't that organized. I think I would have been better off if we could have finished it in class but once I got home-boom. My train derailed. It did turn our ok though. I ended up cutting it into 2" strips and used it for binding on a baby quilt. Borgello Quilts-2014-02-09-10.15.43-800x595-.jpg

    Ugh-never again.

I went to a class for the 2nd quilt that I had ever made and it was a bargello, they are not hard but lots of sewing and cutting and then sewing back into strips again and again, seems hard but if you follow your pattern directions and yes label your rows they go together pretty easy, my first was the black and white and then later I did the red and black which is my fav of all the quilts I have made. I made one..kind of off the top of my head with what I had learned from various sites... I have a blog post about mine if you care to read about it. Not as hard as they look, but time consuming and tedious and cumbersome (due to lack of working space mostly) And it took me so long just choosing the fabric! I have a hard time putting colors together! But once you get your 15 prints pattern decided...then it is just following the curves.
