Row by Row Experience LICENSE PLATES
I'm just curious. What are your plans for using the darling license plates that some of the quilting stores are
selling? I am finding that they are really varying in price but will get a bunch, anyway…..just can't think of
what I want to make with them..a tote bag?
-
Re: Row by Row Experience LICENSE PLATES
I've seen them at all the shops, but did not buy any Could not figure out what they were for.
-
Re: Row by Row Experience LICENSE PLATES
I got one at the shop I visited yesterday,, cost $3.95 I think I'll make a tote out of it. Maybe the reverse side I'll use the Route 66. Fabric I have. I'll be going to other stores, I think I'll collect the license plates too.
-
Re: Row by Row Experience LICENSE PLATES
What do they look like. Is it fabric
-
Re: Row by Row Experience LICENSE PLATES
Yes it's cotton fabric. Here in California it looks like a California license plate but the letters say "Candy's Cotton". Each store has a different saying on them.
I'm guessing each state uses it's own & each store picks it's own words.
-
Re: Row by Row Experience LICENSE PLATES
I have several of them from New York and PA. In the past, I have used them on mesh project bags in several sizes as well as tote bags.
This time I want to make a small wall hanging for my sewing room. It would be fun if we could swap plates from different states for more variety.

Re: Row by Row Experience LICENSE PLATES
I have three so far...they're so cute! There's one here in the south that makes me crazy, though... It says "YA'LL QUILT". Ugh! It's Y'ALL ;-)
-
Re: Row by Row Experience LICENSE PLATES
Can you girls take a picture? We don't have it over here.
-
Re: Row by Row Experience LICENSE PLATES
Here's the link to the site: Row by Row Experience
If you go to start here and click on a state plate a list of shops comes up and their fabric plates are on the right side of the page.
-
Re: Row by Row Experience LICENSE PLATES
yes..they are a bit bigger than an index card and look like the state's auto license plate…having cute sewing/quilting
expressions like "Stitch Happens."
-
Re: Row by Row Experience LICENSE PLATES
I would swap with someone, I only have 1 or 2 stores here that is doing it
-
Re: Row by Row Experience LICENSE PLATES
I have NONE. I live in Alabama, not far from MS and neither state has ONE. Not surprising because there are few quilt shops nearby. Don't know why unless it is the economical situation in both states. Not as much disposable income here I guess. Sad.

I agree with you Kajenkids. Whoever thinks it is spelled that way certainly doesn't speak 'southern'. LOL

Re: Row by Row Experience LICENSE PLATES
Sorry for the glare I didn't take it out the package, would love to swap with anyone. The lady at the store I got mine from said people were buying them for family or friends and she didn't seem to mind, more money for her store. They are 5.99 here.
-
Re: Row by Row Experience LICENSE PLATES
I've been to 4 places now... Paid anywhere from $2.99 - 5.99. The best one I have so far is FAT QTR QUEEN!
-
Re: Row by Row Experience LICENSE PLATES
Y'all are havin' so much fun with these license plates. I wonder who on the Forum will end up with the most plates? Cute idea. Who's the manufacturer? Wonder how it came about? Anyone know the story behind them?
-
Re: Row by Row Experience LICENSE PLATES
The shop closest to me does not have one.. :( I know the theme is road trip, but it's too bad you can't order the plates online. I'll have to see if my family is close to any of the shops. I have sisters in California, North Carolina and Florida.

Re: Row by Row Experience LICENSE PLATES
I know I want have many because there aren't but a few shops around here and as much as I like them I won't be doing a lot of traveling just to get them, unless someone wants to do some trades.... Hint hint
-
Re: Row by Row Experience LICENSE PLATES
Supposedly the shops can sell you their rows and plates after the October deadline for prizes

Re: Row by Row Experience LICENSE PLATES
Well I got another license plate today,, actually went to 2 stores but only one was doing the license thing.
Still have more stores on my list but they are farther away, over an hour, so they will have to wait for another weekend.
If I can collect enough, I'd really like to make a purse,, if I don't get enough, I plan to make a wall hanging for my sewing room.

Actually, since the plates aren't part of the contest you should be able to get them now.
I've ordered a couple via email ... and shipping just ran about $2.45 because it's an oversized envelope. But I wouldn't be surprised if some shops wouldn't do that because they didn't want to go through the hassle.

The rules I have say you can contact the shops and they can sell the license plates at any time but the quilt patterns have to wait until after the contest is closed on Sep 1, 2014.

Re: Row by Row Experience LICENSE PLATES
I will trade with you if you like.
-
Re: Row by Row Experience LICENSE PLATES
The shops near me don't seem to be doing the plates. I would love to get a hold of the one from Crazy Moose Quilt Shop. in Inlet NY. If anyone is up that way I would gladly pay for their plate as they are my initials.

Re: Row by Row Experience LICENSE PLATES
Although Missouri Star is not participating in the Row by Row, they do have a fabric available that has all of the state plates on it. They are not as large as the ones that the participating stores are selling, but the yardage would be great to line a bag or wall hanging: and after sorting at the store site I can't locate it.
It is a bolt that is on the north west corner of their check-out in the main store . . . HELP! The fabric has each state's quilt slogan, too.

Re: Row by Row Experience LICENSE PLATES
I'm sure it's available but I don't know the exact name and my searches (they have something like 5000 pages of sample pictures) didn't turn it up. I'll try to rouse someone tomorrow and see if I can find the right name for it. You will love it.

Re: Row by Row Experience LICENSE PLATES
I collected 8 rows from my vacation earlier in the month to upstate NY (I know, it's not my top vacation destination, but we had to go see family). 7 of the 8 shops I went to had the license plates, all were $4 each. I plan on incorporating them in some fashion to their row and putting it all together to make a souvenir quilt. As a family of 5 with 3 small kids, a vacation is a rare thing. So when they ask me in 5 years why we never go on vacation I'll show them the quilt and say "remember the summer of 2014? We went on vacation then!"

Okay, there are some times that old people should probably keep their mouths closed . . . or zippered or glued??
Actually the fabric they have isn't quilt sayings. Glenda, in Customer Service, did some checks for me and this is what we came up with: https://www.missouriquiltco.com/shop...-black-yardage
So, you can tell that surfing is not even close to quilting or driving the Route 66 roads . . . My feel BAD. BUT, I think it would look great lining a bag that had the Row by Row license plates . . . don't you, too? Sure is cute! And look, it even tells me I am SWELL.
