Default How do I make 2 crib size quilts into one double.?

I made a 42 strip jellyroll race quilt. It was to be put onto a crib, not be be used. It was too big as the original size so I cut it down to make crib size and so I ended up with two pretty much the same size.
My dilemma now is the child is in a full size or queen size bed and there are two quilts instead of one.

My question is: is there a way to put the two quilts together to make one quilt again without taking it apart or making a new one.?

The mom wanted to glue it together. WHAT????.

It will not be used as a blanket, why I don't know. It is just for show on the 2 1/2 yr. old's bed.

I made two so the child could have one to use, but obviously the mom didn't think that way. After thinking about it more, I should have just left it whole and she could have folded it in half to put in the crib. Hindsight is 20/20.

The mom stated that the one quilt is just a little shorter than the other one, so taking it apart I don't think will work.

Any suggestions on what to do, other than making a whole new quilt?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Jan in pa

All I can say is, parenting sometimes makes you a little crazy. And I don't mean that as a critical thing at all! We can get things a little out of perspective sometimes.

One way you might salvage this and be able to make it bigger is to cut the individual quilts lengthwise into 10" columns, pick several apart to make the columns longer, sash in between them and make a stacked coin quilt. It would look something like Jenny's Dresden stacked coin quilt. You can sash and border any width to makethe quilt the size you want.

I haven't tried doing this, just dreamed it up the other day. But then, if the quilts are quilted heavily, you are going to have to do this in a "quilt as you go" style, which may make this an unworkable idea. Just a thought. Seems better than gluing them together!

If it were me, I would make a new quilt. Any way you slice it you are looking at a lot of work to make something that you may or may not be happy with. I think it may be less work to start over and use a simple pattern.

A kid in a queen size bed? I would keep one as a kids quilt and the other make some pillow covers of some kind to make a set. Then make a new one. Is she paying for this I hope?

If it's just for show, I'd lay them down side by side on the bed and be done with it!

How about taking the smaller one and cutting it ( cringe ) and using it as a border for the bigger one using a quilt as you go method? Just pick a complimentary fabric to use as sashing to join to the main quilt. This would use both quilts and make it larger all at the same time.

I think it will be less work making a new quilt. The two small ones could be used for cuddle quilts while watching tv or listening to a story.

I'm trying to think of a glue that would work to join them . . . starting with a flour paste??
    Be warned. I am BORED.
    This could be dangerous.

When you get cold just go stand in the corner.
    They are usually 90 degrees.

A giraffe's coffee would be cold by the time it reached the bottom of his throat.
Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??
