I manage to sew a few blocks upside down with some alarming regularity :0
Somebody taught me to label each block once I decided what order to put them in. Start with upper left as Row 1 - 1
then go down that row as 1-2, 1-3 etc. I pin or tape a piece of paper on each block with that Row # and Block #. If I have to stop for a while, which always seems to happen, I can tell what order I had the rows and blocks organized into. I have still made mis-
takes also, but this is really fast to do and helps me move the offending block back to its correct order...or not if it looks ok where it got moved to. Works well for me.
I don't label each block, just the 1st one in each row. I leave the pieces laid out on my "design floor" (fam. rm. carpet). I start with #1, then get the next block, and advance down the row. If orientation of the block is puzzling, just put a pin in the top of the block so you know which end is up. I also place sticky notes (they need to be pinned, as they won't stay on) with an arrow pointing which direction to press the seams.Attachment 81409 I also use pins for orientation when I'm sewing blocks together. I'm a sew-one-block-at-a-time person. I think it's less confusing that way. JCY
I tried "Raid" once to get rid of them, but alas they are immune. Now I talk to the little beggars but I think they like that.....I suspect they have set up camp somewhere in my basement. :icon_popcorn:
It has definitely happened to me. Two things are helpful:
1. Design Wall - It helps keep the blocks in order. When you stitch two blocks, place them back on the wall to make sure they still fit in with the other blocks in the correct way.
2. Use sticky notes to keep rows together.
