    Default Suggestions needed

My cousin wants me to make her a quilt. She has even told me what colors she prefers. But I have something different in mind.

Her dad worked on the railroad. I have some striped fabric that looks like the overalls he used to wear. I thought of getting some bandana material in red & blue. At first I was going to make the periwinkle quilt using the bandana material for the kite shape. But I would lose what is left of my mind trying to match those stripes. So, I am looking for suggestions on what pattern I can use.

I guess I should mention that she has superimposed a pic of her dad over the Rock Island logo and I was going to ask her to send me the file so I could print that out and use as a center block in the quilt.

Why don't you discuss your ideas with your cousin? That way you can figure out a design together that both of you'll love!

" I know you said you'd prefer blues and greens (or whatever) but I have a great idea that I think you'll really love. I hope you don't mind that I'm making something that will really surprise you! You'll love it. I guarantee it. Trust me!"

I'd say something like that and then make the quilt you want to make. You sound very passionate about the quilt you have in mind, and that's always the way to go. Follow your vision! Non-quilters have no idea what goes into making a quilt. The one you've designed sounds very special and frankly, totally awesome!

    That's my two cents.

Use your stripes for the sashing (if you use it) and border . . . are you wanting to do different colored bandanas or red and blue? I love the periwinkles with plain white background.
    Be warned. I am BORED.
    This could be dangerous.

When you get cold just go stand in the corner.
    They are usually 90 degrees.

A giraffe's coffee would be cold by the time it reached the bottom of his throat.
Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??

I think you should discuss the quilt with your cousin and come to a compromise. It may be easier than you think since you are the quilter.

I also think you should discuss this with your cousin. She may have a particular place she wants to keep the quilt with her color suggestions. Making a big change without her knowing about it could be quite a surprise, to say the least.
