HELP with trip to MSQC today
My husband had told me we could stop at the store on our way to KC today. Now he's wanting to back out because he doesn't think there will be anything for him to do while I'm in the stores for a couple hours. Is there anything worthwhile for men to do there? Is there a bar where he could watch tv?
Re: HELP with trip to MSQC today
Tell him to accompany you into the stores, that way he can hold all the stuff you are getting ready to purchase!
I am sure there should be a park or something that he might want to sit in, and enjoy the sites.
Re: HELP with trip to MSQC today
We stopped there on a trip home from the West and my DH went and got the truck washed. I think there is lots more there now, I know there are more shops. My DH was somewhat fascinated with the long arm machine, too. He was a machinist so it drew him in.
Re: HELP with trip to MSQC today
He could get a burger at J's Burger Dive and I think there is a bar between the Seasonal Shop and the J.C. Penney shop. If he sits outside, there are sure to be some local guys to jaw with! He could tour the J.C. penney museum, the quilting center and the warehouse. I think they are moving the warehouse this weekend, he could supervise or lend a hand.
Re: HELP with trip to MSQC today
Can he bring a book? My husband would take a walk & maybe a nap in the car ....

Tell him I said to not be such a stick in the mud and ruin your fun. The Doan's have remade that town...I'm sure there is lots for him to do while there. If all else fails, take a nap under a shaddy tree...what better way to while away a few hours. Have fun...wish I was closer, I'd drive you! xox
Re: HELP with trip to MSQC today
My husband always takes a book when I go to fabric stores.
Re: HELP with trip to MSQC today
My husband always get in conversation with the ladies in the store, telling him how wonderful he is that he is in there with me. HAH, I just tell him to find a chair and sit down until I am finished, or help me look for stuff. He really does enjoy going with me anyway. He helps me find stuff that I could miss, just so much stuff to look at.
Re: HELP with trip to MSQC today
Just an update - the bar is now closed. I am not 100% sure, but think M* bought them out. It is under renovation.
I heard Jenny tell someone one time that she thought a man cave under the retreat center would be a great idea with TVs, a pool table, something like that . . . if the weather was good a game of golf is always possible at a very discounted rate and very nearby.

That would be brilliant!
Re: HELP with trip to MSQC today
I was there a couple of weeks ago. The bar is closed. Mo Star Quilt bought the entire block of buildings and the bar will be turned into something for them..............I have no idea what there would be for men to do. My husband would be bored; but you should plan a trip with several of your quilting friends. I went there on a bus trip (2 party buses) with 42 other quilters.
Re: HELP with trip to MSQC today
They should of kept the bar and just call it the man cave with a bunch of barn quilts and tools all over the walls. That would of been cool.
Re: HELP with trip to MSQC today
We went by there a couple of years ago. DH walked around the town and then found a shady spot to sit.
But, since there's a hamburger place, he could just go there and have something to snack/drink while he waits for you. Unless he's a golfer then he could go put around the golf course - that would give you more time to shop!
Re: HELP with trip to MSQC today
Maybe Hamilton needs a "husband park"? Sorry Ryan, a non-quilters park.
I like the idea of the man cave under the retreat center.

That's a great idea. I can tell you for sure that if MSQC did put in some kind of Man cave we would be frequent visitors for sure. My DH golfs and that is great in its season but the other 4 -5 months, or when its rainy, some sports watching would sure entice him to go. It's too far for me to drive alone so I hope we can figure out this little dilemma.
