    Red face Looking for tutorials

    Hi All

I am looking for the tutorials for the American Classic and Lucky Penny quilts from the new issue of Block magazine. Thought these two patterns would be nice to (easy) after I finish my first quilt which is a nine patch snowball. Have to cut and put the border on and then the backing. Any ideas for backing types for Florida weather? I picked up a 80/20 blend of cotton and polyester.

    Thank you all

Look under quilt tutorials in the blue header above. Pretty sure the the American Classic is there not sure about the Lucky Penny. I am not sure what you should use for your backing since it doesn't get very cold where you live

Lucky Penny isn't a Jenny design, so I'm not sure if they are planning a tutorial or not.

I observed that some of the BLOCK patterns had different names from the tut video. That could be part of the problem. JCY

One of the members here, K McEuen, has put together a list of the tutorials that are on you tube. It's in chronological order & really useful. They are in her user notes or you can try this link

I can't answer about the tutorials, but for the backing of the quilt, just regular quilting fabric is fine. I use my quilts often in FL, the AC can be really cold sometimes. I like to make my own quilts with Hobbs 80/20 batting. It feels lighter than Warm & Natural.

I live in Southern Louisiana and sometimes use plain muslin for my quilt backings. It's lightweight and cool to the touch.

The Lucky Penny is a Half Hexi quilt made with the Half Hexi template from MSQC. The Layout is what makes it the "Lucky Penny"... If you find Jenny's tutorial on making the Half Hexi quilt, and use that method and this layout of rows, you can make the Lucky Penny quilt.

That is the ONLY thing that make it a Lucky Penny. Give it a try. The Lucky Penny is made with the Small template, but you could certainly make one with the Large template too.

Here are some tuts that give the jest of the idea.
