Can someone help a confused quilter out?
I purchased the "out of bounds" pattern from Fons and Porter. It's a Jenny quilt pattern. I LOVE the design.
I simply can't figure out how to insert the half hexagons into the 2 1/2 inch strips to be able to line the hexagons up properly.
Does that make sense?
I know I'm likely not making sense.......

Did you watch the video? Jenny does a great job showing you how to do it! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ljcmo258R0E

There is a video on how to make this quilt. I can't seem to put the link in but if you google fons and porter out of bounds quilt you can find it.

It's been a while since I've seen this, but don't you cut your background strips with the half hexi tool to get the right angle for inserting the small colored hexi? I guess you need to reverse the direction of the cut of the background fabric to the direction of the cut of the colored hexi to make them fit together. When you sew them together, they are lined up matching the cuts, but the background strip will be laying in a different direction from the colored hexi, with little corners poking out at both ends of the seamline.

It never occurred to me to look for a video. Thank you so much. I'm going to watch it and hope it makes sense to me.
I just love the look of the finished quilt!

It's been a while since I've watched that one, but I'm pretty sure you don't cut the strips with the hexis to an exact length - you add a half hexi to each end of 2 strips, then do that again - match up the sides of your hexi, sew together, then you can trip up the sides of the strips to fit the rest of your quilt
