I won't use any type of magnets on my machines, but they both have computer boards in them. If your machine is simply mechanical it would be fine.

I wouldn't use it at all if you have any computerized components in your machines. You can't use magnets near computers or TV's, so I would not risk it on my machines.
I have never heard of it, what is it for?
I have a very similar thing by a different manufacturer - maybe Singer bought them out- it looks like the same thing. If it is, I love it. I was told that the magnet is no where near strong enough to mess up a sewing or other machine. It IS strong enough to hold pins and tiny scissors to snip thread. I keep mine on the front of my sewing machine and put my pins on it as I sew. It attaches with a suction cup - which of course falls off if you don't follow the instructions (wet the suction cup first). I'm pretty sure my Janome dealer ok'd it or I wouldn't have bought it.
I don't know if that is safe for your machine or not. If you're wanting to use it to hang scissors try using a 3m hook with the command adhesive strip. I have several of them in my sewing room that I hang my stencils on.
