Rag quilts

I made two rag quilts using all cotton fabric and regular 80/20 batting. I liked the way it "ragged up" up close, but I think because I used a layer cake, it kinda looses the effect (especially in pictures) because the square is so big! I think if I had used the charm pack it would have appeared much more ragged. I would try a LC square again, but maybe increase the seam allowance from 1 to 2 or 2.5 inches.

What can I say, I was in a rush - I had 4 quilts (2 boys and twin girls!) I was trying to get done! LOL

I have made several with the top layer cotton, the middle and back flannel and they came out well and are holding up well being washed often.

I made one from my husbands worn jeans on one side and flannel on the other. It frayed just fine. I do think on the corners where pieces meet it was too bulky, I trimmed it a bit.

Yes - I made one of just cotton for both front & back (with batting in the center) and it took two washings but ragged up perfectly!

YES to homespun with batting between the layers. It rags really well and seems to suit that kind of quilt:icon_happy:
