I saw this in my new issue of McCall's quilting, and am a bit intrigued....
I really need to get off the exclamation point.
It may give people the idea that I'm bright and cheerful all the time....

I have never seen that before, I would be interested in any information on this item, if it works it would be great for machine needles.

I'm saving my $. Needles are cheap and should be replaced often. Sharpening a needle that's had hours of FMQ might sharpen it, but if it's worn or bent, it's useless and a waste of time and money. Just my 2 cents worth!

I don't think just because it can be sharpened it should be sharpened. I will keep buying new straight needles I think. Even after only 10 hours of sewing I have seen a crooked needle that is still sharp. Interesting, but not for me.

I buy needles100 at a time, and they are dirt cheap that way. I just can't see sharpening a needle when a bright, shiny new one can be had for a song. Maybe if you're so remote that getting needles is a problem, it would be a good thing to have as a backup.

I was thinking I'd make a small run before each time I sewed. I don't often have marathon sessions...
But I should really change out my needles!

I have and use one of these pads. I do a phenomenal amount of stitching, and while I do change my needle for each new project, I like to run the sharpening pad thru a few times over the course of the project. It does work, and removes any tiny burrs that may be forming. More insurance than anything I guess, as running it thru only takes a second, compared to the time it take to change a needle, re thread and unpick any wonkys if the needle fails. It's not an expensive gadget, and I realise its boring, but to me its a must have!

    Cheers, Pami
