3-fabrics pattern needed!
Hey, Everyone! My DD#10 picked out 3 fabrics for a quilt she has decided I must make for her. (honest to Pete, is the youngest always the bossiest? :icon_shake:)
Soooo... I need some ideas! Fence rail, some sort of star, Need something fairly quick as she is going to leave home for college soon and her brother is getting married next week so I'm seriously running out of time! :icon_mooooh:
Thanks!
Re: 3-fabrics pattern needed!
You have 10 children? Way to go!
What three fabrics did she pick? I think a fence rail or Irish chain.

She said DD#10. Maybe that is just the DDs? I think she is Wonder Mom.;) I vote for tossed 9P or rail fence.

Me too! It's not mine, but I think it's a great go to pattern to pull out of your stash. I might fussy cut some sea turles for the large squares. I had a different plan for them, but I keep going back to this one for them.
Re: 3-fabrics pattern needed!
How about a tube quilt? You can make the first 2 strips any size and then add the 3rd to make the tube- kind of like the summer in the park - revamped tutorial Jenny just did

Fabric Cafe website has several 3 fabric patterns. Topsy Turvey is one I did a couple of years ago and it was quick and simple!

Jenny has a different POV at the end of this video that uses only three fabrics... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLxI...VFDHmDXqCIzuAw
Re: 3-fabrics pattern needed!
Thanks, everyone!! I will show them to her and let you know how it comes out...
BTW, she is my 10th and youngest child. She has 3 older sisters, 6 older brothers, 4 sisters-in-love (and a fifth joining the family next week!! :D ), one brother-in-love, 5 nieces, and 4 nephews. She just graduated from high school, and is in that crazy busy stage of life where she is involved in so many activities it makes my head spin. First thing I'm gonna' do when I get back from dropping her off at college in August is take a NAP!! :icon_heh:
I promise, I am not super at anything. But I'm married to the best guy on the planet (35 years this August), and I serve a very great and merciful God.
Thanks again for all the great suggestions!
Blessings,
~ Sally

The Big Star quilt is definitely not, 'quick'. I vote for the tube-type quilt. Good luck

I was very pleased with the way my Rail Fence turned out. It was quick & easy. You could use only 3 fabrics with it. I used 5 with mine, b/c I wanted to alternate the pink & green blocks. JCYAttachment 80452Attachment 80453Attachment 80454

Forgot all about the BQ patterns!
Take a look: https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...84.VEPl2MyI-hc
This is a beautiful easy pattern to do especially to showcase large prints.

I just asked this question! I'm going to fussy cut the big square. So let's say its 6'' . you cut two strips 3 1/4'' wide . sew those together. Then cut them 6'' sew them back together opposite colors. I hope that was clear:)
So in short half your square and add 1/4'' for your strips. :)
Re: 3-fabrics pattern needed!
So I could be totally wrong but I think to make this pattern, once you have sewn the strips you will want to cut the strips in 3 1/4 inch slices, so that when you sew the slices back together (switching colors) you will end up with six inch squares. But what do I know. Newbie alert.
In any case, I agree with Hulamoon that this pattern is a winner.

So exciting for a newbie to get quilting math right! Woohoo! I'll relish this brief moment of quilting math success!
Enjoy your movie.
