    Question Marking Pen/Pencil

I am planning a trapunto project with an eagle and feathers. The quilt top has to be marked. I'm nervous. What pen do you experts recommend for marking the tops of quilts. Naturally, I want the markings to disappear on the finished project. Thanks for the help.

I use a Frixion pens or chalk pencils. Since your stitching is going to be curvy and very intricate, so would use the Frixion pens to see easily.....

I have enjoyed using the Sewfine air erasable pen. Disappears within 2 - 10 days, or disappears immediately if using water. Mine is purple, and I don't know if it comes in any other colors: Sewline Air Erasable Fabric Pen - Sewline FABRIC PENCIL

i use these too and they really do disappear quite well by the air and completely when water is used. It is highly recommended that your fabric be washed prior to marking with it though.

I like the Frixion, it disappears instantly with heat.. Like the iron. I have two, one red and one black.

Just to be clear for newbies like me, when you say you are using Frixion pens are these the same pens I can get at Staples? Just don't want to make foolish errors and buy pens I don't otherwise need that won't work for quilt marking.

These are the pens I use. I purchased them at Nancy's Notions. The ink disappears completely by using a dry iron on med heat...do NOT use steam.

Also test them on a practice piece of fabric first to make sure the ink comes off with the iron.
