I just finished my quilt top I'm making for my daughter. She wanted something to wrap herself in during the winter while watching TV....do you all think flannel would be a good backing? Any other suggestions?

Flannel works wonderful as backing to make quilt warm.
Made my husband cotton on ft warm and natural then flannel. He loves it since he is always cold.

I back all my personal quilts with flannel as winters here are cold here. I love the soft feel of it. Make sure you buy a quality flannel such as a Moda one and you won't have to worry about shrinkage.

There's always minkee!
But yes, flannel makes a soft cuddly quilt. Made one for DH this past winter. I also used a very soft batting, think it had "mist" in the name. I agree about using quality flannel. I got some Moda on sale from a quilt shop that was not going to be selling flannel anymore! Got it for 6$ a yard! I also prewash flannel just make sure you either serge the edges or hem it because it frays a lot!.

Flannel does make a great backing. I used flannel on my son's quilt with cotton on front, warm and natural batting and flannel on the back. When washed it became the softest quilt ever and he loves it for staying warm.
