ByAnnies Soft n Stable VS other interfacing?
I'm making "Pink Sand Beach Design's" Tahiti Tote and I'm wondering if I will get a more professional result using the patterns directions of Fusible Fleece, -Decor Bond combination, or should I substitute Annie's Soft and Stable? In particular I don't want that crinkly, card-boardy look of some of the Pellons. But I read that Soft n Stable will reduce the inside dimensions of the purse?? I'm a little nervous because I have only enough of this wonderful fabric and don't want to make a mistake.
Has anyone made this bag? Does anyone have experience using both of these types of interfacing and can compare them for me? Thanks so much.

I have used Soft and stable on ipad cases. It is so smooth and soft, I would use it on a tote. I have been reluctant to use fusible fleece because I am afraid of it not adhering completely. The soft nap covering on Soft and Stable sort of clings to fabric even thought it isn't fused. As for reducing the size, it is about 1/4" thick, so you would lose 1/2" over all in length and width. I would think unless you were making a tiny tote/purse, that wouldn't be a problem.

I haven't made that bag, but I have made other Pink Sand Beach Designs bags. I had no problems with the fleece. I haven't used the soft and stable yet, but I don't beleive it is fusable. With the fleece I don't worry about quilting it.
With the soft and stable, does it need to be quilted to stay in place?

I've used both the fusible fleece and the soft and stable. I much prefer the soft and stable. My bags are sturdier and have a more professional appearance with the soft and stable. You do not have to quilt it. Hope this helps.

No - it doesn't need to be quilted - part of the charm of it.

Thank you Jean and Michelle. I think I'll use the soft and stable based on your advice. I don't like droopy purses. I'm putting a little patchwork star on one side of the bag and I'll put some light batting under that and I might put the Peltex in the bottom but I'm leery of the Decor bond.

I used the Soft 'n Stable in my GD's duffel bag and it turned out great.
This stuff quilts up nicely as well.
Need to get more next time I'm in the states.
Sometimes I wake up Grumpy!
Other times I just let HIM sleep.

I used to always use fusible fleece until I tried Annie's Soft and Stable - I love it. It really does give a professional look to the bag and you don't have to quilt it - but if you do quilt it - it is very easy - I think you will love it.

I love the Soft and Stable. It's a bit more expensive, but the results are well worth it.
