Re: sashing a single block with cornerstones!! HOW! uhg
Here's my method.
First, cut for strips the exact length of your block sides.
Next, add the cornerstones to both ends of the two 7.5" strips.
Sew the two 9.5" strips onto the two 9.5" sides of your block.
Now take a checkpoint. Nest your seams of the cornerstoned strips. Do things line up? If not, make adjustments. If it's too short, you can stretch a little, but don't overstretch. You may have to rip out a seam and re-sew. If it's too long, make a new seam nipped in a little.
Once your seams will nest, sew those two cornerstoned strips to the top and bottom of your block.
Voila!

That's the same tutorial I use when I want to do sashing the easy way & use cornerstones. I usually cut my sashing strips 1/4 to 1/2" longer than the block, then square up & trim. If you cut the strip the exact length, sometimes you come up short. JCY
